What affects the cost
Base condition
Resin needs sound tarmac or concrete. A new permeable base adds roughly £45–£80 per m² before any resin is laid.
Resin type
UV-stable resin costs more than non-UV and does not yellow. On a driveway it is worth insisting on.
Depth
15mm minimum for driveways, 18mm where vehicles turn. Thinner laying is the classic corner-cut.
Aggregate choice
Standard blends are cheapest; marble and specialist colours cost more per tonne.
Edging and drainage
A resin driveway still needs restraint edges and a permeable path for water.

- If your tarmac base is sound, resin overlay is far cheaper than a full rebuild.
- Choose a standard aggregate blend; the visual difference is small and the cost difference is not.
- Book in spring or summer to avoid weather-related delays and remobilisation charges.
- Ask for the resin manufacturer's name, the depth in millimetres and the guarantee document before paying a deposit.

How long does a resin driveway last?

Resin bound is permeable when laid on a permeable base. Resin bonded (scattered onto adhesive) is not — check which one you are being quoted.
Can resin be laid over block paving?
Not reliably. Blocks move independently and the resin will crack along the joints.
