More than a price comparison

The cheapest quotation is rarely the best value.

Two quotations for the same job are almost never for the same work. We read the wording line by line and show you where the money, the risk and the responsibility really sit.

Hidden exclusions

Work you assumed was priced, quietly excluded in the small print.

Missing work

Items one contractor has priced and another has simply left out.

Payment risk

Large deposits, front-loaded stage payments and unclear retention.

Warranty differences

Twelve months versus ten years is not the same offer at the same price.

Commercial risks

Provisional sums, allowances and terms that shift cost back to you.

Potential extra costs

Where the final invoice is most likely to exceed the quoted figure.

A worked example from three quotations for a full house rewire. Illustrative figures, fictional contractors — the structure is identical to your own report.

Comparison report · 3 quotations

Findings you would see

  • Excluded

    Making good and decoration excluded

Northstar's quotation prices the rewire only. Plastering and redecoration after chasing walls would be a separate cost to you.

    View source · p. 3

  • Not stated

    Building control notification not stated

BrightSpark does not say who notifies building control. Without a certificate this can hold up a future sale.

    View source · p. 2

  • Included

    36-month workmanship warranty

VoltEdge is the only quotation with a written workmanship warranty beyond 12 months, stated in plain terms.

Nothing is assumed. If your quotation does not say it, your report says so.

  • Identify commercial risks.
  • Receive professional questions to ask before accepting.

Compare multiple quotations

  • Compare prices.
  • Compare what is included.
  • Compare exclusions.
  • Compare warranties.
  • Compare payment terms.
  • Compare programme durations.
  • Receive an evidence-based recommendation.

Why homeowners trust us

You’re about to spend £10,000–£100,000 on someone else’s wording.

A quotation is a commercial document written by the person you are about to pay. It is worth understanding every line of it before you sign — and that is the only thing we do.

Comparing quotations is genuinely difficult

Every contractor writes a quotation differently. Different wording, different structure, different assumptions — so the totals are rarely comparable.

Important details are easy to miss

The costly detail is usually one line in a long document: an exclusion, an allowance, or a payment term that only matters once the work has started.

A structured review reduces risk

Reading every quotation against the same checklist turns a stack of documents into one clear picture — and a short list of questions to ask.

What we promise

  • Every finding links back to your quotation.
  • No assumptions are made.
  • Information is never invented.
  • If something cannot be identified it is reported as “Not clearly stated.”

Professional insight, without the professional fee.

The same commercial questions a surveyor would ask, answered in minutes instead of days.

Quantity surveyor review

£300 – £1,000

Typical private fee for a commercial review of a domestic quotation, usually taking several days.

Before you upload

Your questions, answered honestly.

Privacy, accuracy, pricing and what this service is — and is not.

Who is behind the review, and can I rely on it?

Your quotation is read against a fixed professional checklist covering scope, exclusions, assumptions, warranties, programme, payment terms and commercial risk — the same areas a surveyor would examine. Every finding links back to the exact page and wording in your own document, so you can verify all of it yourself. It is decision support, not formal legal or surveying advice.

Do you use AI, and could it invent things?

Technology is used to read and structure the wording in your quotation, but the report is built to never guess. Nothing is added that is not in your document: if a quotation does not state something, the report says “Not clearly stated” rather than assuming. Each line is traceable to its source page.

Are my documents private and secure?

Yes. Uploads are transmitted over an encrypted connection, are used only to produce your report, and are never sold, shared or published. Your quotation is not shown to contractors and is not used to market to you.

Do I need to pay before I see anything?

No. The quote health check — your score, the number of issues found and your first findings — is completely free. You only pay if you want the full report, and it is a single payment with no subscription.

What does it cost, and is there a refund?

The full report is £9.99 as a launch price (normally £29.99), one-off. If it does not give you insight beyond reading the quotation yourself, contact us within 7 days for a refund.

Will you tell me which builder to choose?

For multiple quotations you receive an evidence-based comparison and a clear recommendation based on what the documents actually say — price, scope, exclusions, warranty and payment risk. The final decision stays with you, and every point is backed by a source reference.

What kinds of quotations does this work with?
